China has officially become a party to the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, with implementation commencing on November 7. This move is expected to further boost cultural exchanges, economic and trade ties, and personnel mobility between China and other countries.

The Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, also known as the Hague Apostille Convention, aims to simplify the authentication process for public documents among contracting parties. Under the convention framework, any public document bearing an Apostille issued in one contracting state will be directly recognised by all other contracting states, eliminating the cumbersome diplomatic or consular legalisation procedures.

The implementation of the convention means the exchange of legal documents between China and other contracting parties will become more convenient and efficient. It also marks another important measure for China to actively participate in international legal cooperation and advance the modernisation and internationalisation of its legal system.
